Default Traffic Information in SatNav

Has anyone had any issues in using the traffic information within the XC60 satnav ?

Mine seems to be set up as per the manual (tuned to Classic FM) but does not seem to receive any traffic info (either onscreen or messages).

Anyone else experienced this ?

Thanks

had a similar issue with my audi , try another radio station as sometimes the band is not transmitting the info , I called LBC a few months ago because of this after taking the car to the dealers to get it checked out , seems they were having a problem with the signal.

Mine is tuned to Classic and picks up the traffic status no problem.
One way to check is to zoom out to see a good proportion of the country and you should see loads of yellow and red arrows all over the place. These are the delays and roadworks on each road - if they aren't there then something is wrong. But no idea what - sorry.

Cheers Guys

The only station that comes up as an option when I search is Classic FM ( I live west of London so thought there would be more) and Ive zoomed out and see no traffic info at all. Im driving on the same roads as I always do (M4 and M25), my Mercedes system always worked flawlessly as far as traffic was concerned and pretty much showed traffic 24/7 on these roads.

Guess this will be my first call to the dealer !

Thanks

i had this problem at the weekend. Whole of the A12 was blocked and no traffic warning. I fiddled a bit and then suddenly i had loads of info, but then again today, nothing.

These systems are a bit basic really (it's a data signal carried on the Classic FM carrier) and only really cover major roads. I had a TOMTOM that did RDS-TMC which was the same. But it did pick up info much quicker than the volvo.

Were you listening to your ipod, or to FM? On my journey it was listening to the ipod, and it seemed to start working shortly after I selected the 'traffic info' option in the menu (in the menu where you get to choose if the display shows your track names etc). But before everyone jumps on to me saying "well of course it f***ing did!" - i think that option refers to the iterruption of ipod listening to switch to local FM for radio traffic and news broadcasts. However maybe having that turned on forces the FM part to keep scanning the airwaves for broadcasts, and consequently picks up traffic more quickly?

Cheers for this ...... I have tried every variation that I can find to do with Traffic ..... it has sprung into life twice for a few mins and thats it ..... the satnav works fine though (ive seen your posts on the other thread).

Cheers

If its using Classic FM for traffic data the information will be supplied by a company called ITiS Holdings which employ the Classic FM radio transmitters and a number of other regional/ local radio stations to broadcast the data where the Classic FM network has weak signal strength (such as the North West of the UK where Real Radio are employed for North Manchester/ Fylde coast coverage).

The following list gives you an idea as to where the transmitters are located, the frequency transmitter name and power level (KW), I am not too sure whether the Volvo built in system can accept Point of interest (POI) files but I found the following data very handy on the TomTom nav units to work out the correct frequency when attempting a manual tune of the receiver (I am not sure if the factory fit unit even offers a manual RDS-TMC tune option)

Thanks for this ..... having looked at the ITiS website the area in which I drive has blanket coverage as do all the roads I drive on ...... so this must be an issue with the receiver in my XC60 or something related to it !

Cheers
