Hey guys,

I have 2 Volvos S90, one is 2017 D4 and the other is 2017 D5.

My problem and concern is that D4 asks for 1 litre oil after every 3000-4000 km. But the other, the D5 is normal. Cars are driven by the same drivers and the same way. My Volvo dealership tells that this is perfectly normal, but I do not agree with them they can not explain to me why is this normal that one car is asking oil and the other don't. I believe that here is a lot of enthusiasts who can explain me if this is normal or not.

I wouldn't say that's normal at all, even for a dirty diesel.

I'd take it to a different dealer or someone who knows what they're on about.

There does seem to be an issue with some VEA engines consuming oil. People are reporting this in the 'EGR problem' thread, presumably because they think there's somehow a link? See the later pages of this thread... https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...21555&page=197
