It is the extra £310 per annum for five years surtax on cars over £40k you should be concerned with!!

This starts in April 2017

Thanks for the info, was not aware of the changes. Applies to cars registered from April 17. That is quite a sting for cars over £40k.

Vehicle tax from April 2017 for a D5 XC90 will be £200+£310 = £510 in the first year followed by 4 years at £140+£310 = £450 then £140 from year 6 onwards (at current rates).

Cars registered before April 2017 will continue to be taxed at the current rates (for now at least...)

Aware of this but that is for any car over £40,000. So Volvo xc90 falls into that bracket as well,

Default XC90 Road noise - refund

Hello everyone - I am a new member to the forum and this is my first post.
I was drawn to the site after looking through the internet to see what other owners were posting about the new XC90 - and in particular, the road noise.

I found the right site!

I am returning my 2 week old car tomorrow morning to the dealer and exercising my right under section 20 and 22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, for a full refund.
The road noise is terrible. 81Db at 72mph on the M40.
A vacuum cleaner is 70Db at 1.5m.

The dealer is helpless as it seems Volvo UK will not support a fix - or so it seems.
I have read through various threads and attempted fixes with noise insulation and quieter running tyres - I am interested to know what other owners have accepted by way of a satisfactory fix.

Could I ask how you have measured the noise level?

Hi Zoo21, welcome to the forum. I have been one of the more vocal ones on the forum concerning this road noise issue. The main thread pertinent to the issue is this one. Could I be a little OCD and ask that you resend you message on that forum too? Perhaps let us know your spec too, do you have an Inscription with 20" wheels? Assuming its a new car too?
