XC60 Rear Fog Lights

Can anyone tell me why there is a bulb in both of my rear fog lights but only one works?

I too was wondering this. I tried setting the headlights to RHD to see if it was really clever and switched the rear fog over but it didn't.

Am I correct in assuming that I will be OK in Europe with the one rear fog light to the near side of the vehicle?

yes it makes the car easy to swap from Left hand traffic to right hand traffic specifications ( In the factory ) with just a software tweek ..
