Default Light (Reversing) Relief

There was me all worried that I would have to get my (not working) reversing light switch replaced over the Christmas & New Year for the MOT next month having heard ealier that they would be in the next MOT when, much to my relief, I read that the new rule doesn't apply to cars around before 2009. I have got that right ... haven't I ?

I haven't a clue regarding MOT checks and reversing lights, but never a good idea on these early dark nights to have no reversing lights.
Depending on which gearbox you have, if reverse is below 5th then they really are easy to change.

I heard it was the other way round regarding the degree of difficulty ie. reverse below 5th is the awkward one.

I found it needed replacing very recently when I was checking it out for possible sensor array installment and have been variously using a mixture of lights, rear fogs and hazzards to make me more obvious as, you are right, there are drivers out there who seem to think a large car reversing without reversing lights is invisible. Will certainly sort it when I get the chance but before the impending MOT would have been a pinch.

The reversing lights on the SE are hilarious, sometimes they work, sometimes not, then sometimes they flash on and off, about as fast as indicators do when there's a bulb gone, it's quite funny.
