Default Gracie's return to as New

2 weeks ago today we dropped her off at the restorers , today was the 1st chance to pop in and see progress .

I rec'd good and bad news in that the shell is really solid but the front windscreen surround will need a bit more work than 1st thought due to the way the leak developed . But overall there no major surprises .
I will post more updates as they happen and eventually will be posting the final set of photos in the showroom section .

Looking good! I bet you got a fright when you saw her like that with the wings off and the screen out. The inner wings look good it has to be said. They should be able to fix the screen up though and do a proper job with hopefully no leaks in the future. Keep the pics coming.

Wow, what a job you have there.
Can't wait to see the end results, always amazes me. Good luck with her.

Hi the work is being done by a local firm called Classic Car Restorations , they have been in business for 21 yrs and restore all sorts of makes , models and ages . The work is not cheap but at the end will have an as new Volvo Amazon estate to the spec we are ordering .

Had a phone call from the restorers last night about some fibre glass they had found . Went and had a look today and took some pics , not as bad as imagined and she is coming along nicely . Sorry for poor quality of pics took on mobile phone .

They are hoping to have her stripped to bare metal next week ready for the respray . The best thing is seeing all the work they are putting in to give us a completely rust free car .

It's coming along but I hope they are taking much better pics than you or else you're going to have no useful record of the rebuild"

Yes they are keeping a photoghraphic record for us . Problem is remembering to take the camera . Its frightening to see how much work they are doing on a good solid looking car but as mentioned before they are removing all the rust and replacing with good metal . She should go quicker when finished as she will be lighter without all the filler . Someone couldn't get the right lines when they welded new metal in so made the lines with large amounts of filler , also the offside jcking point had a piece of iron welded in !!!.

Taking shape. I feel you may regret not bringing the camera at a later date though. Its nice to have a good record. The garage may not take as many pics as you would. Nevertheless, its great to see a job well done!
