Spotted 240s - Page 18

We travelled to Staffordshire for ten days holiday a couple of weeks back, covering nearly 1,000 miles and passing through 12 counties. Hardly any old Volvos at all, and we tend to be on the look out now, and not a single 240. Where are all these long-lasting cherished cars? Or is it that they're so cherished that they're only used on summer Sundays?!

what is also intriguing is that the majority of the ones we have spotted on this post don't belong to forum/club members.

(is there anyone in VOC keeping a register of 240 owners?)

I shall have to remmber to keep a camera in the car in future - there's loads in our neck of the woods; also back in BC there's a good few that aren't local club members, and need photographing.

White L-reg 240 estate In Three Legged Cross, Dorset earlier this evening.
I was waving but the 240 driver gave me the "That bloke is mad" look back as he passed.
It was only then that i remembered i wasn't in my Volvo 145 today!

Not quite the same when a mid 90's BMW waves at you i suppose!!

I spotted a 240 estate going past the volvo dealership at preston docks this morning around 10 am.

I can honestly admit that this is one of the first 240 i have seen on the road.

It would just be weird taking pictures of them here, they are still pretty common cars! I'm doing a 150 mile round trip this weekend I'll try and keep count of how many I see!

But then there are many other old cars you see here, especially Ford Sierras, which were rot boxes. SO clearly the cold climates are not as harsh to bodywork. Infact I think I read somewhere rust process slows down in sub zero temperatures, which would certainly sounds right by the looks of things.

I saw a red Torslanda along the A64 towards York last Friday. Bit late but I only just remembered

3 spotted this weekend in Brighton that I have never seen before!! so that makes 9 that I know of in a 3 mile radius not including mine. Also saw another K reg SE at Hove Park not quick enough to snap. Plus a bue GLT estate at Preston Circus. Brighton is the 240 Capital of the UK...must be!!
