Engine: B6284: - Where's the Engine Number?

Hi,

I am trying to locate the engine number on a '99 S80T6 that i recently bought. The owner manual vaguely points to the exhaust side near the front. When I look there the turbo and it's hoses block nearly all view of the block. I need to find the number so it can be registered. Can it be viewed from the top or only from below?
