Default Tag battery replacement

Has anyone replaced the battery in the key fob (not the normal keys) it is a sealed unit which is meant to be thrown away and a new one purchased and programmed at some cost from Volvo. I managed to get mine replaced Last year but it’s only lasted six months. The chap who did it used a rechargeable cell but I have no means of charging it up

I assume it is the same as the Ford system, it charges when you put the fob into the slot in the dashboard using an induction coil (like an electric toothbrush), so if you keep it in your pocket all the time it won't ever get charged.

Is it a new Volvo? I have a 2012 S60 and you can easily change the battery in the fob (Personal Car Communicator type)

AH, my error I see what you mean now, mine didn't come with one of those so I didn't recognise what it was you were talking about. Ignore me!

To be fair, I think Carabind is in the wrong section of the forum. They come with the V/S 90, but he has posted in the XC/V/S60 forum.
