Default 1.6d (D4164T) Injector torque specification

Hi All,

According to http://www.volvohowto.com/volvo-s40-...ecs-2004-2013/ specified torque for Injectors is:

Injector (clamping yoke)
1st Step: Torque to 4 Nm
2nd Step: Angle Tighten/rotate 45°

Can somebody confirm if this is correct as the torque wrench I have access to starts ar 40Nm!

4 nm is correct as per the Haynes manual (they state 65 degrees for stage 2). If you're doing lots of car maintenance, I would recommend buying a few torque wrenches in a range of sizes.

Every injector seal I've done on the 1.6 always needs a second tighten down after a good drive, tighten it as much as you work for a 6mm bolt and check it again after a run, 4Nm is nothing more than finger tight.

It works out to around 10-12nm. Mine sealed and stayed sealed at this. DO IT AGAIN WHEN HOT. I cant emphasis that enough, then mark with tipex.

Get a small torqure wrench, as you dont want to snap the posts.

I just had an injector serviced, the mechanic did not use anything like torque wrenches...stage 1 and Angle Tighten stage 2?? He built his 600HP engine from scratch without any torque wrench, he said. Personally I am for using torque wrench, but for an experienced mechanic, I do not know..

Many thanks to all the replies and confirming spec.

Don't have immediate access to a smaller torque wrench. For now have tightened it by feel. Will tighten it again after a small run and when hot. Thanks for all the advise.

Hi there,
Do you know if that is the same torque setting as the D4162t & does it need thread seal on the bolt
Thanks
