Can't you just buy a full garrett/replacement actuator ?

I'm not sure if Forge do a replacement actuator that may work out cheaper too for that turbo - maybe worth giving them a call.

Hi Pete,

This is a long thread and I haven't got time to read it all, so sorry if someone has already suggested this along the way:

Use 98 ron fuel minimum if you want the car to run at its best potential (Shell V-power). If you use anything less, you won't be able to run full power, it needs the good stuff. The next thing to do is find yourself a good and experienced (probably independent rather than franchise) volvo garage and book it in for a check over. Post up where you're from and no doubt someone will name you a few good garages. What you are experiencing could be something as simple as a loose or burst boost pipe to something more complicated, and rather than fiddling about with it and spending lots of cash blindly it's best to ask an expert to look at it and teach you how to care for the car, there is also a wealth of on the VOC if you can find the time to dig around :-).

I've had my T4 for 8 years now, and with all the mods it's had it wouldn't have lasted half of that without a garage who knew what they were doing with it.

When you getting it running properly you will be pleasantly surprised at how fast it is; I've upset many many people in all sorts of cars over the years with how fast it was at 228 BHP, 260BHP, and more recently 388BHP.

Have fun and stay out of prison.

Hey there.. Just read your posts on the trouble you've been having with your car (rattles and power)..

Ive had a T5 for about 6 months now, and one of the first things that happened to it was a blown turbo! Ive sorted it all now, but its been hell!

Anyway, you're just down the hill from me (im in Brigg)
You fancy meeting up sometime? Id be happy to have a good tyre kicking session!

Have you tried Rufe for a price on the actuator? See pic for part number.

@ Pete, also see pic, the red circle indicates roughly were the diaphram is within the metal casing.
thanks for the help on this one guys, i'm sure this is something you can do yourself but i'm not that confident a mechanic to tackle this one lol! Ross motorsport are tuning specialists and know their way round a turbo so think i'll leave this one to the professionals lol! The cars going in on wednesday morning but i would imagine it'll be early to middle of next week when i get it back (by the time they've taken it off, sent it away and get it back etc). I'll let you all know what the verdict is as soon as i do.
