In case of deletion...

Tony - "track record" means past tense eg. bent conrod through too much boost, seized cam.... Ring any bells?

AFR fitting had nothing to do with Andy Forrest. Mapping did. Reread the post if you are still struggling.

At least refer to the correct car. As per other threads, I have had 3 STI's. The one on discussion here was a 1996 STI RA. A white one. I can send you pictures if you like

And back on thread, what is better - narrowband or wideband afr? You going to contribute, or just argue with other posters who are all saying the same - wideband?

The absurdity of the offending provocative poster's thanking hyvaa's post speaks for itself I hope.

Below is your response when I mentioned your lack of knowledge of an AFR gauge.

In the interests of sanity, I've put the first entry into the ignore list - thanks to all who suggested it.

And the award goes to......

Thankyou and goodnight

I teach twelve-year-olds for a living. I'd be doing the same but I'm interested in the comparisons.

narrow band is less accurate than a wideband gauge, and that is very important when it comes to tuning a high performance motor, since the tuner whilst mapping can see the changes in AFR much more accurately and make the correct changes as necessary in the mapping order to hit the target AFR, a narrowband won't react fast enough ie on a WB gauge you'll see a 0.1 diff in AFR whilst a NB controller might show no change at same condition...

Narrowband came before wideband, simple evolution of the engine ECU and emission controls etc made WB necessary in order for the management to more accurately control fuelling (on stock factory cars with advance electronic control)
however NB is still widely found because its cheap and more budget cars don't need such high levels of ECU control..
