I've been following this thread sporadically while on vacation, but had little to contribute. But I second the decision to pull the hub. I actually thought you would have done so already.
On my PV444, my parking brake lever and my parking brake lever strut (I assume that's what you call them) are extremely sloppy. I'm actually planning to post a video to show the condition and seek advice. Because it has so much play, I think that the bottom of my brake lever could easily hit the inside of the hub. Alternatively, you could simply have some debris in the hub, or the brake shoes may not be returning to neutral. If you have not already done so, you might try engaging the parking brake one or two clicks to tighten the cable and then try driving it a short distance to determine if you still have the clicking. |

Thanks blueosprey90. The only reason I haven't had the hub off is that the garage has taken it off a number of times in the recent past and haven't spotted anything obviously wrong. And the clicking has remained throughout. Doing the same thing over and over again hoping for a different outcome is surely a sign of madness...
The clicking is so regular that I very much doubt it's debris rattling around. If I drive at a constant speed the clicking really is as regular as a clock. And surely if it were something loose inside the drum it may be regular but it would be intermittent? I tried gently applying the parking brake whilst driving - the clicking continues without missing a beat. |

Thanks Faust - sound words of advice. At least asking the question has saved me paying a couple of hundred Euros on a puller from the Netherlands!

Hi Derek UK, I'm based in Redhill. If anyone has a rugged puller they wouldn't mind lending then that would be great. And even better if anyone fancies giving a hand or even just advice and encouragement from the sidelines!

That's like asking for a backseat driver!

Army - I admit to being a bit decrepit nowadays re back-seat advice (!) but I am a Redhill-area Amazon owner, so all is not lost!
HRA - Derek is a long-term friend who will be getting in touch with you soon re my hub-puller. Motto - if you don't ask you don't get! Paul |

I really don't know these cars, so I'm just thinking. Well, more like wild guessing.
My current thought is that something is cracked. I would have said the wheel, but you indicate that you've had the clicking with the spare. Could it possibly be emanating from under the car on the opposite side? Possibly a cracked hubcap if you are running hubcaps. Do these cars have halfshafts? Maybe the halfshaft or some foreign object in the axle. You did indicate that you had a tire blowout. Maybe a wheel stud is cracked, perhaps in that area where it comes through the brake drum. |

Going a bit left field here...but once you have got your drum off and have eliminated the brakes or something loose in the drum.
then turn the 1/2 shaft by hand and listen and in some circumstances feel..just think you should not discount the w/bearing
