Default Inner Tie Rod and Track Rod End Replacement Video

I recently replaced my inner tie rods and decided to also make a video to help anyone else who wants to do the same.
Halfords quoted me £320 and my total outlay (including the special tool) was £72.
If I sell on the tool this brings the cost down to around £50, which is a bargain for a job that most novices would get done at a garage.
You'll also see my terrible wishbone rear bush and you'll be pleased to know I have two genuine Volvo wishbones on the way, so if you're not too hard on me, I'll video replacing those aswell, using my method where no driveshaft removal is required.

I hope you find the tie rod video helpful.

Yes, sorry about that. There's an 18mm spanner gap in my Halfords tool set.
It goes from 17 straight to 19. Typical.
A nice set of ratchet ring spanners is next on my wish list.

Cheers Phil.
This forum has helped me loads, so I'm happy to give something back.
There's a pressure brake bleeding video coming soon and an aux belt and tensioner change tutorial for the D5 on its way too.

Thanks Bob.
Yes, the tool definitely made the difference and I feel £28 was a small price to pay to turn an awkward job into an easy one and the 24 minute video is pretty much real time including me waffling.
This is the exact tool and seller I used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1312286865...84.m1439.l2649

My inner track rods have been an advisory for two MOTs now. I've had replacement ones waiting on a shelf since the first one. Now I have no excuse whatsoever to keep putting the job off!

Good video most are badly lit or too out of focus to be useful. Where is your video for changing the front strut? I notice that you don't seem to have changed the coil spring. There have been a lot of reports of these failing recently and I understand the new ones have seven, not six, turns, so the front of the car sits higher almost two inches afterwards.
