Default V70 tyres

I have recently had 4 new tyres put on to my V70 (2000 model), and having brought it back from the garage when I am in full lock (either left or right) the tyres are touching the inside of the wheel arch (and making a loud screeching noise!). This suggests to me that the tyres are too big - or just the wrong tyres depending on which way you look at it.

The tyres have the following number on them 215/65r16 98h.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this please?

If your old tyres were 215/65/16, ie. the same size as the new ones, then the new tyres shouldn't give a problem.

I'd take it back to the garage and get them to jack it up and, on full lock, spin the wheels.

As an aside, what make are the new tyres and what were the old?

I have just checked what they are - they are called 'Wanli S-1023'. Unfortunately I can't remember what the old ones were.

Will call the garage tomorrow and do as you suggest.

Default Incorrect tyre size

Standard tyre size should be 215/55R16 not 215/65R16

The tyres you have fitted are too tall, take them back and get them changed for corect size.

Default What did they invoice?

215/65R16 98H is a extra load fitment for people carriers such as ---------
Renault Grand Espace or Chrysler Grand Voyager.

Completely incorrect for your car.

Check the invoice to see what was billed. Could be the fitter put the wrong tyres on.

If you have no luck by all means contact me, i may be able to help.

Isn't anyone going to comment on the brand of tyres fitted?

The tiny patches of rubber that are in contact with the road are the only things keeping you on the black stuff and out of the scenery and other drivers.

Don't skimp on poor quality tyres.

My thoughts exactly. I'm on another forum (Vectra-C.com) and the concensus on Wanlis is that when it's wet, it's like driving on ice. Sorry to the OP, just my opinion.

Default tyres

Thanks for your help everyone. Garage did a sterling job and changed the tyres over straight away. I now have the right tyres for the car!
