I'll give that a try. It might be all that's needed at those slow speeds, although it does compromise the automatic nature of the automatic if you see what I mean..
Can't understand the reluctance of manufacturers to give us voice control over it. Its not as if they would be penalised for doing so, or presumably for giving us the choice of a three second delay, which Volvo do, but only when cruise control is activated.

I agree to an extent and seldom use or need to use the touchscreen when driving, which is why I object to having to find often needed controls like the stop/start button and, indirectly, the Dynamic mode on the screen.

There's just no need for it if only the designers pulled their fingers out and changed a bit of software code.

I admit on my "old" 2013 XC60 D5, the only time I use Sport mode is to overtake, and being able to instantly knock the lever sideways floor it and then knock it back to normal mode is exactly how it should work. The thought of having to click, scroll (while looking at screen) then click to get to dynamic then floor it and do it all again once passed the slower car is a huge step backwards in convenience and potentially safety I would say. Guess just means you either leave it in dynamic most of time or never use it at all.

Since we're chiming in on stop/start in general... I don't mind so much fiddling a bit to turn it on or off, but what would make me use it a lot more is if it was manual. I'd actually much prefer to do it myself with a button on the steering wheel (maybe on the back, where they used to have the nav controls). Then I can decide if I'm going to be sat there a while (EG if I know the phases of the lights and know I've got a minute until it's my turn) and just hit the stop button. And if I can clearly see I'm going to be moving again in four seconds I can elect to do nothing.

Obviously for safety the button would be inactive above a certain speed, in case of an accidental press. And the car would need to display a message if the battery charge was insufficient to support it, but all pretty easy to implement.

I am unconvinced about the real benefit of stop/start as had it in the Mercedes and did 100's of trips to work and back with it on and my record mpg for that journey occurred while it was off. I guess it has it's place in certain conditions.

You don't have to go through all that procedure - click the knurled wheel then tap the mode you want on the sensus screen, job done - sensus will revert to previous screen after a few seconds or you can hit the "home button".

I have leaned to do it all by feel from the click wheel. On the T8 you click down to go from Hybrid to Power. I remember this as being in line with putting my foot down. I can do it all without looking at the screen but agree a single button would be far better.....

Well that did not last long: Stop start not working again today, convinced it is the small stop start support battery that is not holding charge.

Dealer will get another go at it on monday when seat rattle is getting sorted.

When mine is next in I will see if the dealer can do the 2nd row seats as well. I seem to get a intermittent rattle somewhere that I cannot pinpoint. I just know it is behind the front seats. Not something I would go in for especially.
