Default 850 gas pedal

Hi,
has anyone experienced the accelerator pedal sticking ?
I have a 95 850 auto estate. Occasionally the pedal feels as though it doesn't want to move unless I apply more pressure than normal. This is at around 50mph.

Hi,
Friend had a 850 where the pedal was so stiff that I couldn't drive the car. I suspected either that the cable was kinked somewhere, routed around a curve that was to tight or that a carpet was in the way. The design of the cable may solve the problem. There is a plastic sleeve inside. If the plasitic is on the cable it can move with age. This means that whereas before the metal cable could go where it was pulled i.e. through small holes, the plastic sleeve catches and makes it stiff. If you have got the time remove the cable , find out how long it is and buy one the same length from a bike shop. you will save quids. anthough the end fittings may eed adjusting. Cheers Nige

Remove the black plastic cover in the engine bay that covers the throttle valve etc. You will find the cable ends in a drum. Remove this from the shaft, be careful not to loose the 'E' clip.
Grease the drum's shaft etc.
This should improve matters.
