Default V70 - Cambelt

When should you change the cambelt on a V70? Does anyone know the schedule? Obviously a new cambelt every 1000 miles wouldn't be a bad thing... but when is the scheduled change time?

Thanks.

Hello,

It's nice to see another jenner - I wonder if we're related - my family originated from east sussex area.

For a response to your thread you really need to state your model, year and mileage to get members with similar models to comment.

Id speak to a mechanic, but in my book 60k is long enough for any cambelt , bearing in mind the damage caused if they fail

Hmmm.... better see if the owner can verify that this was done. I think he only bought the car last year!

Personally it is the one thing I would not skimp on, the damage bill would be terrible and not worth the risk imo. If the pre owner can prove done then that great, but if not get it changed and have the peace of mind.

I bought my car with a FVSH, and volvo could not confirm the belt had been done even though on the list of items at the 96K service but the item was on on the parts paid for. Did not want to take risk, theygave me a discount, and I got it changed at a local independant volvo Dealer. Can now drive with one less thing to worry about.

I have had a number of peugeots and always had them changed not worth the risk, shame not chain driven like my old mondy!

I would normally agree with this statement, but as ejenner is talking about a customers car, if the customer in question says the belt has been done, that is all that matters!

By the way, there's no need to repeat yourself, obbard, we heard you the first time <smile>!
