Default HID fitting.

After popular demand. Some pics of fitting a HID conversion.

Earthing -

1. This is the negative end from the ballast of the HID ballast. It plugs into the negative of the H7 bulb connection.

2. This is where it connects into. Incidentally the brown is the negative point from the original H7 bulb connection.

3. Pictures 3 and 4 are of the earth connected to the negative leads going into the original H7 bulb connection. You can see the earth wire in the 2nd picture better.

4. With the leads coming out of the light. I drilled a 25mm diameter hole for the plug where the wires come out.

5. The other end of the earth and where it was attached.

6. This is the unit out. It is wrapped in insulation foam and tie wrapped to the ballast.

7. In the final positions. Tucked into the cavities. Perfect fit!

I've had two friends with HID's conversions done. Both passed.

MOT guidelines state - Metal Halide Lamps require to have a projector lens to direct a precise beam of light (Check), Head light washers (Check) and self levelling system (Not a check) That being said there are some Japanese cars that have HID's but do not have head washers.

Having spoken with a few friends who work at garages, the main concern is the light projection. With reflectors this is obviously very difficult. Since my car has projectors it should indeed pass.

The worst that can happen is it fails, I change them back to OEM and it passes. Then I put them back in again. Oh and if I claim from my insurance, make sure I put the OEM's back in!

i did that back to the suspension turrets and the bulb i earthed direct to body behind the light
so i fed the spade back through the grommet and had a flying lead to connect to thats screwed to the body.

i wanted to make REALLY sure that i wouldnt fry my wiper motor.

had HID's on about 10 months and never had one bit of problem
