Default D5 185 Flat Spot

Hello All

2007 V70 D5 185 118,000 Mls

Car pulls like a train when I hit 1800- 2000 rev mark
and will pull reasonably well from 1500
However any less revs than 1500 performance is low
Hit 1500 and its like turning a switch on and the car wakes up
Does this sound normal
it seems to be relying on the boost as the turbo starts to whistle at 1500 rpm
perhaps my right foot is getting lighter with age!

I think they all do this. Mine certainly does (38K) - I think it's slightly improved by running on BP Ultimate Diesel or Shell Vmax. Also I've learnt to take off from rest with a light throttle; it's tricky though if you approach a roundabout at low speed on a trailing throttle, and suddenly want to accelerate into a gap. I think its partly due to turbo lag, and a heavy flywheel. I was also told it can be improved with a remap, but I haven't tried that! Possibly the later twin turbo D5s are better?

I have a 2008 S60 D5 185 and one of the first things I noticed was the lag! Previous cars have been a 2000 320d, 99 Polo TDi 110, 2004 Accord 2.2d and a few others. Out of all of them the S60 has the worst lag I have experienced.

Having said that once she lifts up her skirts she flies!

Hello
I don't think I would call it Lag , just off boost ?
Its flat at 1000 rpm but expected I suppose because that's not far off idle
Hit the magic rev and flies
For such a big car its amazing really and good on fuel also
I have it in my mind though that it did perform better at this lower rev
Paranoia probably

Thank you for your replies
All normal by the sound of it
