Default Anti skid service required. Help please

Can anyone please advise - I have a 2007 XC90 D5 and about 12 months ago just after a service which included a full brake & disc change the above message appeared on the dash. Thankfully shortly after it disappeared and never came back until recently so may be totally unrelated.

As it stands i can start the car each day with no warning present and drive for miles with no problem but when the car is stopped and restarted the anti skid message will then generally appear if not straight away within a couple more miles of driving.

If the light appears when moving the driving characteristics do not seem to change other than the message displays on dash but on a couple of occasions this has also happened when stationary at traffic lights. When this happens i instinctively look behind thinking i have been slowly hit in the rear end as the XC90 shunts.

I have had codes read which point to brake pressure sensors and after reading other topics on this forum i concluded that it is highly unlikely that both sensors are at fault. I purchased a second hand fully tested replacement and this was fitted to the vehicle giving a 50/50 chance of solving the issue which unfortunately it did not. I then swapped to second sensor confident the problem would now be rectified.

Unfortunately the message still appears after a run so where do i go now?

I have sat in the vehicle stationary with engine running and turned wheel max left to max right and this does not throw the message so i am assuming steering wheel sensor can be ruled out.

Any help appreciated.

Cracked ABS rings on the driveshaft/CV joint can bring up this DTC. Search for posts on it in here.

On my D3, this message also affected the engine, couldn't tell whether it was limp mode or one or more cylinders dropping out. Frustratingly also intermittent fault.

When driving to the indie to have it looked at, another message showed, 'headlight failure service required', no loss of power.

But, first diagnosis showed one or more injectors at fault, current state is I'm waiting to hear result of the injectors check, and whether this caused the electric gremlins.

Hopefully I can learn more tomorrow.

Appreciate all the replies so far, thank you for taking the time.

The scanner used to pull codes was a 'Snap On' code reader which stated brake pressure sensors 1 & 2 were at fault.

Would this be the same code for a cracked ABS ring?

Going from my experience of having the same issue, I know the ABS rings being worn, cracked or corroded will throw the Anti skid Service message.

Get them checked. They are not expensive parts and not a huge job to replace.

As for reading DTCs your better having the car read with the Volvo Software, VIDA.
Plenty of people here who may be local who can help with that.
