Have you got the original?
If you have the original you can swap the internals over to a cheap eBay shell, I have done it on the top half and it works great. Not tried the bottom though.
The key is in two parts and slides apart once you have removed the single screw under the battery cover. The bottom half with buttons does the remote locking. The top half contains the physical key and the immobiliser which is like a glass grain of wheat. Key is a simple swap over, immobiliser is a different thing as it is a snug fit, glued in place. I got mine out using a junior hacksaw to remove most of the plastic around it, then a hot knife the scrape off the rest. If you break it you need a new one from Volvo. Only cost £3.50 though so if you are thinking of buying a new one may be worth a go first.

Thanks for that.
I had seen the eBay cases. Sadly the tiny micro switch for the door unlock remote has broken free so I need the circuit board element. |
