No heating
Hi,
2004 D5 - I've just realized that the heater is playing up. No other symptoms from the cooling system but even with the dials turned up to full I'm getting no heat from any vents, in any position/setting) The small cabin temp sensor on the control panel is clear of dust and fluff. Any ideas what to check next ? |

Blocked heater matrix? Check the outlet pipe for heat.

Finally got round to looking at this again as the weather gets colder !
The inlet outlet pipes from the engine bay to heater matrix are both hot so that rules out the heater matrix. |

Next step is to read codes using VIDA.

Yesterday I took the control panel apart to check the thermistor. Visually it appears to be OK. I can also hear the air flow flaps moving on both sides when I select hot/cold.
I have Vida but no DICE so it's going to have to be a trip to the main dealer |

The cost of getting a dealer to read your codes will probably exceed the cost of buying a DiCE!
Suggest you get a DiCE. How about this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-Dice...AAAOSw9XhZ4dLV

Thanks for that Greg - I didn't realise they were that cheap.
In the meantime I ran a diagnostics test today with colleagues professional equipment (not Vida) and it threw up "0021 air quality sensor fault" and the fault couldn't be erased. From a quick search this wouldn't effect heat output. |

Generally at around 10 years old. A failled AQS sensor will, as you not, NOT affect the heating and cooling functions It only affects the automatic recirculation mode.
