Default Central Locking Question

Could anyone possibly answer this quuestion:

should the car automatically lock itself after a period of time? i could have sworn i read it somewhere when i first purchased the car but cannot find my manual.

if this is true then mine doesn't work and i was wondering if there was a part that needed replacing to make it work??

Thank you for any reply.

It will relock itself after about 2 minutes of you unlocking it and not opening any of the doors or boot.

Yes to the first and no to the second. It automatically re-locks after about 2 minutes if no doors etc have been opened but it won't auto-lock for you when you leave the car.

I believe you might be able to get it to auto lock with a software download as other markets use this feature BUT In the early days of alarms when they were fitted in the dealer in the late 80's early 90's this feature caused so much bother with the car locking itself that it was left out when the factory alarms came along , in this country anyway ! I'd leave it as it is...

Hi,

Might be easier just to kick the wife.
Certainly cheaper than Volvo software and dealer prices!!!
