V70 2009 - Leather interior & Rear DVD Screen & DVD Player
Hi,
I have not long got hold of a 2009(59) Volvo V70 which is bog standard. I have managed to get hold of a full leather interior for the car today. This interior has arrived with DVD monitors on the headrests and a dvd player in the centre console (With rear seat controlls attached) I'm planning in installing these seats this weekend and hopefully there is the connectors under the seat to plug the electric seats into and get these electric seats running albeit without the heated element working. The thing I'm wondering about is the DVD player. I haven't been given any of the wiring harness for this and having found a manual for installation online it seems this is part of the kit for these? Would it be installed in the car and be a plug and play option? If this doesn't work could these monitors be wired into a new dvd player? Would need to find the cable that comes from the monitor and find a way to wire it into a tv output source. Thanks Daniel |

Can you take some pictures of it?
The wiring for the screens should go down the back of the seats and come out at the bottom. It sounds like the wiring seats to the dvd player is missing though. Also on the factory setup you can play the audio via the stereo by pressing the AUX button, otherwise you need the IR headsets. To play it through the stereo will most like require a software update from a dealer. It is a retro fitable option on the Volvo accessories site so if you get all the components theres no reason why you shouldn't be able to fit it. Try getting in touch with Volvo and see if they can send you an installation guide. |

I have looked at the seats and there doesnt seem to be any wires loose that would connect but could be wrong, Will need to have another proper look.
I have been given two sets of IR headphones which is ideal for the audio. My concern is the cables going into the DVD player, and from DVD player to the screens is lacking. Must be a way to find them somewhere or hook them up or at least take the feed from the screens into a new dvd player or media player. Attached photos of the system. |

Picture 2 is the Rear Seat Audio Console and is separate from the Rear Seat Entertainment system. In theory there is no reason why it can not be used to listen to the RSE but again as it is worked through the Stereo, you would need to have a software update. The RSE should come with 2 IR headphones and a remote control that can operate it through the rear screens.
I have a similar setup in my car, in theory all 5 people can listen to something different through the RSE and RSAC. |
