Default Window issues

Recently bought a 2004 2.4D auto XC90 with 195k on the clock and a list of faults you might expect from such a vehicle. Bought it knowing both front doors had no electrics and the stereo only flicks on occasionally.
Replaced front door modules and have all functions back except for windows. Both sides are getting power. Drivers will drop an inch after hitting top but passengers just grunts. They will have been out of action for some time so have pulled seals away and lubed all round edge of windows. Looked behind door cards and loads of yellow grease on sliders. Drivers door flexes a bit as window moves through its 1” up and down.
I’m waiting for a Vida dice. Will it need some kind of reset to get them working? Mirrors and central locking all work now. I have a optic loop on way to test infotainment modules as it’s an SE with sat nav, phone and various other bits that I suspect are killing the stereo.
Also got no AWD so looking forward to welding up the sleeve/angle gear. Flushing the tranny oil tomorrow having done oil and filter, fuel filter and PAS with CHF11. Think this car will keep me busy.

There is a reset procedure to get the auto close function working but I'm not aware of a need to do that to get them to work at all. Can you remove the glass and try the mechanism?

Not sure how that works! The sleeve is invisible inside the angle/bevel gearbox.

You pop angle gear off. Pull sleeve off transmission. Cut hole in angle gear casing and drill out three holes in sleeve. Then weld it to gear. Pretty simple and well documented if you google it

Will have to take mech out to manipulate if nobody has any tips or reset options. Suspect they have just been out of action for too long.

Very happy, followed above procedure to the letter and now have two fully functioning windows. Have seen reset procedure before. What differed here was windows where not moving so could not pull fuse. By jumping as shown above the motor is forced to work allowing the reset.

Well done. Good luck with the bevel gear sleeve.
