Default What auto box do I have - for fluid spec

Hi folks. I've got an '11 XC90 which I thought had the Aisin Warner box and I was going to use some JSS3309 that I've got leftover from my wife's Freelander2 to change the fluid with at some point.

I've noticed that the handbook lists two boxes, the AS55 and a TF-80SC. Both use the same fluid but with differing capacities. Also, I've read on here that some autoboxes don't use the JWS fluid. Getting a wee bit confused

It’s unlikly yours is 3309, yours will be the 80sc which uses AW1.

But double check

Inded6, but how? Visual differences? Call a dealer? The handbook only lists 3309 as the fluid.

Call Eastbourne Volvo and speak to Ashley or Chris in parts. They will confirm

You have the TF-80. The AW55 was the 5-speed box which Volvo ceased to use on the XC90 in 2005.

However they both use the same fluid, JWS3309, not anything else...

Page 282 to be sure...

Thanks, that's what I was thinking due to the handbook stating that.

Totally wrong answer. JWS3309 was supersceeded in 2010 then in 2011 by AW-1.

I say this as the owner of a 2012 xc90 who has just been through this task.

Check with Volvo.

Right, guess I'll be contacting Volvo then! Bonkers that they're printing the wrong info in their handbooks 👿

Ok then so the web version of the 2011 MY XC90 that I linked to is wrong as well? You better call Volvo and tell them....
