Default XC90 Tow Bar

I have just purchased, via a well known on line auction site, an original Volvo tow bar. However, having tried to fit it, there appears to be some sleeves missing. I am assuming that the sleeves go through the chassis member to stop the chassis being crushed, the holes on the outboard side of the chassis are a larger dia than the inboard holes. Can anyone verify that I am correct and ideally can anyone give me some dimensions for the sleeve. I have been to Volvo and there is a screw kit for the tow bar but they can't tell me what it includes. Thanks

You are correct in that there should be some sleeves to protect the rails. I don’t know what size they are though. I would have thought they would be part of the kit. Would the dealer order it in and check what’s included before you pay for it?

You could always order it and return it if it isn’t the part you need. The sleeves are essential to prevent the rails distorting when you tighten the nuts/bolts.

If you measure the bolt size and hole in the rail you might be able to get a local fabricator to turn some out on a lathe.

Talk parts guy at the dealer. If the sleeves are shown separately on the parts list they can be ordered separately. IF not theyshould be in the kit.

I couldn't find them on the PCT Automotive site anymore, but I think you're talking about the parts that are labelled 'L' on these fitting instructions?

If you are, PCT do them for £15 incl. postage (or at least they did when I bought them last year).
