Good idea. Going to need a nice even coat on the mating surfaces to make sure they run true when re-assembled too.

Sounds good Bri. Just want standard silver (suggested black with polished rims but Lindsey just gave me (another) dirty look!).

Cool - can't wait to see the finished result.

All I need is a really really cheap set of spare rims so I can refurb mine sometime.

Hopefully pick my Omega wheels up from the Wheel Specialist in Swindon tomorrow - Black Chrome .. I'll post a picture ..

Cheers
Ian.

Hi Rob

I would be careful with powder coating as the thickness of the coat may mean the centre is too tight a fit to rebuild the wheel...

I had the wheels on my BMW E60 done last week (my usual place in Edinburgh) and two of them were too tight to fit over the hub centre!

I had a set of 20" split rims like yours done for my XKR and they did them in one piece - thus no issues with fit... the only negative was the bolt heads lost the sharp "definition" when blasted and coated. They look really good and are otherwise very tidy around the bolt heads.

Just a thought,,,,

David

You want to make sure that all mating surfaces are masked up before the work is done including where the wheel mounts to the hub.

Excellent, thanks chaps.

I'll take a trip to BA Wheels in Norwich or Colorcote in Hethel

.... however this still leaves me with the dilemma that I need a spare wheel and crabby tyre to complement my space saver to make a pair so I can swap out and do two at a time to make it a bit more practical.

Can anyone help please?

Anyone know the torque settings for the bolts?

Do they need and thread lock?
