Default Dip headlight warning

I have a 14 plate XC60.
Can anyone advise me? Does the dip beam come out of the same reflector section of the headlight as the main beam?
I've had a warning that there is a headlight problem. The dip is working on the two cylindrical lights next to the main beam, and the main beam is working - but I recall that when on dip there used to be two lights visible per side, and now there is only one now (both sides are the same).
Which bulb should I be changing?
thanks for your help!

What is the error message? If you have active Xenon/ABL headlights, the message might pertain to the headlamp alignment system - not the bulbs themselves.

If you have a switch on the panel in front of the gearstick with a headlight symbol - you have ABL's (Active Bending Lighting).

Also on Xenon headlights, as the bulbs get older they can flicker and get dim, this can put the bulb failure message up even though the bulb is still producing some light. Cheap bulbs from e-bay and Amazon can also do it - best use genuine Philips or Osram.

Thanks for the reply. The headlight bulbs fitted are Osram Xenarc 6634HB1 35w D35 which I think are the original ones. Both these work for full beam, but should they also work when dip is on?
