They said the V50 wasn’t a real Volvo too. But we know it is.

Just seen an article on the Zeekr 009, which looks panel identical to the EM90. Then read this thread again and noticed the YouTube vid shared says something similar.

The article I was reading was about Giga pressing...

its,, a volvo ,, focus ,,, but some came with Volvo engines, ,, just fomoco parts inside,, (the ones that fail often), but kept the Volvo saftey level,, so,, "bitsa" ?

still miles away from that boxy milkfloat ,, no itw*t system, proper Buttons and switches,, (ok they go sticky when the coating decides thats all folks) and someone let ford skimp on connectors for the CEM and cheap out on the sunroof drain hoses by saving half an inch of pipe,,

I know the V50 was a bit of a marmite car, partly down to the infiltration of FoMoCo bits and partly down to it being by some margin the smallest Volvo estate at the time.... but I had one and loved it. Whilst it had a FoMoCo floorpan and suspension the electrics were mostly Volvo and the seats and trim definitely where Volvo.

Compare a 55-plate V50 to any Focus, Astra, Peugeot, even Golf estate of the same age and mileage now and I bet the Volvo would be in substantially better condition in all areas (apart from maybe the 2.0D engine vs. VAG).

The 2ltr diesel was a good engine that was ruined by all the Eco stuff that was attached to plus once the develop an issue some seem to struggle to find it. Don’t even start me on the CEM stupidity. I had a V50 for near 4yrs and it was a cracking motor once I’d got passed the BCM, Ignition key and aircon condenser that’s made of tissue paper. To improve it I bypassed the EGR (before anyone starts the emissions improved straight away) and did the obligatory modifying of the butterfly valve. After that I racked up some economical and comfy miles. Good practical motor.

It does indeed. Impressive range on the battery. I reckon that’d be a good seller here

i agree with you, i Like my small v50 estate with a proper volvo 5pot engine ,just going round replacing all the failed bits and finding fomoco on them,, makes me wish i had found a 940/960 and ,,nah the v50's a nicer place to drive

I’m always interested in the real world range on these batteries.
