The tensioner on my wife’s is good until the next belts change as the poster above mentioned. Theoretically....
The cam belt will need doing in the another twenty thousand miles and I will have them all changed then. Hoping to run this car to three hundred thousand miles at least. It works hard carrying dogs and our family life and we are about to move house to a fixer upper bungalow so I’m in no hurry to invest thirty or forty grand in an expensive tip skip......

That may be the case but given the history of tensioner failiers and the possible catastrophic damage I will not change the belt without changing the tensioner. Yes it adds to the bill but it's preventitive maintenance and cheap insurance in my view.

Just had cam and auxiliary belt along with all tensioners done on time interval not milage.
Hand book says 54k OR 5 years for auxiliary belt, 108k OR 10 years for cam belt
5 years the car was on 45k, 10 years its on 76k . Bill for that at dealer was 300 and something pounds, loose the cam belt and the best you can hope for is £2k for a head worse a new engine.

Please could you let me know which dealer, and the price? Sounds a good deal. Thanks.

Lloyd's Aberaeron

. 2 hours from Cardiff if you know the way, 2 days if you get lost in the hinterland.

Think the belts were £360 or380 not sure as it was serviced at the same time. Total bill was near £600. The serpentine has to come off to reach the cam belt so it's only the parts that cost.

What is the length of a belt that should be used if you have a mechanical tensioner (partnumber perhaps), and the length of the old type (hydraulic tensioner) belt?

I have a '2009 2.4D, with a mechanical tensioner. No idea if it was fitted with an hydraulic spanner when it came out of the factory.

I have a noise when I use my AC (other thread), can it be possible that I have the wrong belt?

My tensioner is 31330379 (mechanical type), belt is 31330870. According to Vida this should be the right type. (My Chassis: 069526)
