Just tried starting, it will start but wont pick at all..barely enough grunt to move..

Can't help you with a read but possibly a sticking throttle body/flap.......

Sounds like the MAF meter, try unplugging it for now, it should default to a nominal value which may be an improvement on the current situation.

Did you get it sorted ? If so what was the outcome/fix.

Please let us know, or am I the only one that hate's threads that are left "up in the air" and not concluded.

haha sorry, yes me too. Well and its a big Well...no not really. Got the car recovered to sussex. Where the dealer plugged it in, found no real codes found.
They found the intake pipe was leaking near the breather but other than that no idea.
In checking over the battery was disconnected i guess that cleared the codes. However since it's been fine.
So sorry not really got a definative answer. Only on long journeys might use our other v70 instead...oh and to be sure picked up a near mint 850!

Might just be worth giving the throttle body a clean, have a search for volvosweden youtube......throttle body cleaning.

Had a similar problem on mine.
