Polestar on XC70 D4 Manual

be very careful with insurance modifications and companies in general

i insured an evo 4 rs[import] with a big company years ago-it was cheapest generic quote,found out at renewal the car had been insured as a lancer...not an evo...i suspect if involved in a claim i would have had my work cut out for me to get appropriate re-inbursement

i would suggest double checking re polestar...

I am with volvo insurance, 10% hike in premium for polestar, funnily enough they do not charge extra for it on an xc90 I'm told.

Yeah I double checked with esure.... 'So with Polestar optimisation, there is no increase in premium? I am getting it done this Saturday, do I need to call back when it's done'

Answer... 'No you dont have to, no change to premium'

Another thing Polestar is limited by is the fact that they make the engine stay within the certified pollution limits. That they don't remove the functionality of the dpf goes without saying. It's there for a reason.

No increase to the insurance fee here in Sweden.

The DPF and EGR I can fully understand and no way would I modify my car to pollute more by 'deleting' those out. Afterall, we are all breathing the same air, even though there are people out there who do this. Anyway I digress.

I’ve just changed my V90CC D5 (from ensure with no hike for P*) for a T6 and moved over to Volvo insurance, who told me they also don’t charge extra for it - and I got the distinct impression they never do as it’s just another Volvo option/accessory.

2wd xc70 and I'm paying 10% extra for polestar. As soon as I told them they added the premium hike. Was the dealer told me they don't charge for it on the xc90.

Bizarre! I used compare the market but polestar just falls under mod/chipping. Get the cheapest quote then call insurer to say its polestar. Had to do that with mine.

Hmm... I wonder if they use several different underwriters and it’s just the luck of the draw as to which one they’re using when you enquire - or which agent you get on the phone.
Can’t think of any other reason for the variation - otherwise you’d think company policy would not change.
