Those are the american spec headlights. If you wanted some you would have to have them shipped from america or elsewhere abroad (Australia?). Im not sure what the rules would be though about their light output/beam pattern - i.e. im not sure they would be legal.

My old man used to have them fitted to his, this was over 15 yrs ago mind when i was wee. the headlights were changed for rhd versions, I have a feeling we had to get them from Chapelgate Porsche which were the only subaru dealers back then locally, I think they were common to Subaru GLFS and Sumo vans. Light output should be fine as take h4 bulbs.
God only knows where you'd get the grille, never worth shipping one over. Was the Volvo ever marketed in japan?? |

My local Volvo breaker used to have a set hung up in his shed, though he packed up in about 2004/5 - perhaps contact some specialist breakers to see if they too have come accross any?

Daniel,
Not easy, but possible if you are determined! The good news is that many 700 fans in the US want Euro lights ("e-codes" as they call them) so there will be plenty of US lamp sets lying unused in garages. For a keen youngster such as yourself, you could probably get a set sent over pretty cheap if you did a wanted ad on, say, turbobricks. (Or are any US owners reading this??) However, Steve is right. Whilst the inner (mainbeam) lights will be fine the outer ones will dip to the wrong side for UK use and would not be legal in the UK. You might, possibly, get away with stick-on beam deflectors, but these would look a bit naff and I don't know whether this would pass an MOT. There might be a much better way though. I think these rectangular lights are a standard size. You might be able to find a UK car which has RHD dip lamps that you could fit to the US Volvo front. There may be others, but off the top of my head, I can only think of Audis (the original shape 200 and Quattro) and Renault 9 and 11 (early type). With the Quattro in particular, a lot of owners upgraded to the later one-piece headlights, so very possibly there are some of the type you would need sitting around on garage shelves?? Why not try an enquiry with the Audi club? At least you'd be able to get measurements to see if they would fit. (BTW, although all early Quattros were left-hand-drive, those sold in the British market did of course have correct, left-dipping headlights). Best of luck! John |

If the torrential rain ever stops i'll head down to my barm and measure subaru ones, i'm certain they are the same as 1800glfs, also a popular export to the states i beleive, over here we only got twin lights on the glf, i think they got them on brats as well.
Ok i've lost original thread of post but something tells me they are same as volvo not the audi. I dont think VAG beleive in standardisation. Audi, Passats, transporters And sirroccos had similar looking lights, but i'm certain they were all different strangely i think you could twin lights with montego ones of all things. Still i need to find sharknose bmw, or Capri headlights, not as easy as i hoped, |
