XC70 oil capacity
I recently had my 06 XC70 serviced and found that a) the oil level only came half way up the dipstick, b) the coolant level was only half way up the header tank. I queried these findings.
Regarding the oil level first answer was 'ignore the dipstick only go by the electronic measue' I pointed out the 06 XC70 only had a dipstick so away went the child on reception back to her engineers 'now there had been an advisory from Volvo to limit the amount of oil used to refil on service to 5.7 litres. Regarding the coolant level I was advised to top it up with water. This after paying £80 to have the coolant changed because it was below spec. Has anyone else come across this particularly the amount of oil used? |

Yes this is correct the reason behind only filling with 5.7 litres is because of an issue with the dpf and oil dilution. It was part of the recall to only fil to this amount as this way if you vehicle did suffer from oil dilution it would not risk engine run away from to high oil level.
A lower coolant level could just be air still in the system but just top up with a cup full and it should be fine It's not a big deal and I've being running my s60 as they recommend and my oil hasn't risen and I haven't had any problems. If you look I the Diesel engine section there is a massive write up on this
