Default V70 Drivers Information Module

I'm in desperate need of advice please.

My 2000 reg. Mkll with 160,000 miles has suddenly started giving intermittent messages stating ' ABS Service Required' & 'Brake failure Stop Safely ASAP'. When the latter message appears other functions such as mileometer vanish. Took into local Volvo dealership who advise no problem!! other than faulty DIM - replacement cost £1200.

The car still runs like a dream but clearly the above cost greatly exceeds cars value considering age and mileage. Also I'm not totally convinced about the dealers diagnosis. One or other, sometimes both, of the messages seems to appear upon starting vehicle and then, randomly, appear and disappear during a journey.

I'm subject to a time pressure as MOT due by mid September.

Any views or advice greatly appreciated.

Common failure and help is at hand. Contact Spokoluzik at volvodiagnostic.com. There are other companies doing it but he gets consistently good reports from the members here.
Turnaround is usually days and costs a fraction of your quote with a guarantee
