Angry The old girl is sick again...

Well, after a month or two of great running, my trusty old TDI has begun to show signs of her age & vintage - not good!

Friday morning, (& previous to that, after her service) she was running great, starting on the second turn without fail & running about as smoothly as that old TDI can get.

Friday afternoon, Took ages to start but ran fine once she was going. Got to the destination, parked up, & left her for a bit. Looked underneath later & there was a small damp patch underneath. She sat for a day at my mates & the patch wasn't there when I picked her up this morning.

But

Once again she was difficult to start & felt odd by the the time I got her home (less than a mile). parked her up & left her running - to warm her up - but she began to misfire before eventually cutting out. Got her going again & noticed smoke coming out from the dipstick, also not a good sign!

Well, she'll be heading to the local garage on Wednesday to spend some of my hard earned money that I haven't been paid yet!

Bloody cars! lol

Damp patch could just be water from the air conditioning. If it was diesel, ATF or oil, the patch would still be there.

Well, whatever it is, it got worse, now gonna need a tow to the garage as she will not start at all now!

Hopefully it's not gonna be anything too expensive, I can't justify pumping another £500 into my £500 V70...

Hello, Do you do any maintenance on this vehicle? Honestly, do you have any comprehension of what's going on?

I know there's an intake air mixing chamber which needs to be cleaned periodically. It clogs with exhaust gas residue and can choke your engine.

Ever change the fuel filter? Kira

Actually, yes. She had a service not long ago (I.e. last month), which involved, new fuel, oil and air filters, new oil, new coolant etc. Along with new brake discs, pads and new calipers on the front. Not to mention a new heater core too.

I was working my way through the problems with my car, and apart from a noisy rear wheel bearing (which was next on the list) I thought I was ahead of the game as until this weekend, she was running really well.

Not given up on her yet, but not prepared to spend thousands on her either.

Lossie, ah weeks spent in Inverness and Applecross and those damn speed cameras on the Perth to Inverness road. Try doing Applecross to Brecon and back every bloody weekend, no wonder my Tdi hit 430K. I used to get to Glasgow and think I was almost home on the way back to Brecon.

Anyway, the Tdi is a good motor, anything you fork out for may be a unknown, if it the P3 car?

The Tdi 2.5 should not smoke from the filler cap.
