Depending on how much you are going to tow if it's just the norm,ie 2, weekends a month plus the fortnight or week hear and there then the additional oil cooler is not needed just make sure that the gearbox fluid is nice and clean.also when towing with the auto boxes I found that o moterways it would hunt up and down on the slightest incline doing 60 with cruise set in top gear.to help this issue go one gear down

Check out http://www.ntta.co.uk/ everything about everything regarding trailers from basic servicing to the finer details of towing laws.
all factual not what it used to be, not what the caravan club recomend but what the law states.

Thank you for your help. It is just normal amounts of towing I will be doing so I should be fine as long as I drain the atf regularly. I did drain it a couple of weeks ago but I will make sure I do it more often. Thank you again for everyone's help.

Perhaps have a look at the National Trailer and Towing Association "Guide to Safe and Legal Towing" at ntta dot co dot uk.

It explains the maximum legally allowable weights etc.
(The 750kg figure so often quoted is the MAX weight for unbraked trailers : a small boat, NOT a luxury caravan!).

I've heard that if the car manufacturer recommends a lower trailer weight than the normal maximum, then exceeding the manufacturer's limit could land you in trouble if the trailer is involved in a crash - this assumes that the crash was so serious that the police would bother to weigh the trailer/caravan.

There are also various .gov sites giving details of the driving licence requirements (which have changed quite a lot over recent years so if you have had your licence a while it may well be that you can tow just about anything).
