I have had it in France but only when raining and only on autoroutes with a variable limit. The 130 became 110 on the dash. (I always change to metric when I get to Europe). I assumed that the car recognised it was raining and I was on a variable speed limit road and so told me so.

I think I also had it in NL but they do not have variable limits as far as I am aware. Having said that, a coupe of websites say they do...

I was driving from Edam (NL) to Ijmuiden (NL) on different roads at the time of the weather warning.
The speed limits displayed, were anything from: 30, 50, 80 and 100kms/hr, I even got rerouted by RTTI on the way and cannot say if a speed limit was reduced at the time of the warning.

Over 3 years of owning the V90 and driving in all sorts of weather, in the U.K. and mainland Europe, I have never received this type of warning before.
Is this something new?

Since my last service I have had this warning on 3 occasions. All in the UK. In fact all 3 occasions were in the same place as I come off my estate and onto the main road roundabout. Not in HUD though, just on dash. It was wet on all occasions.

It happened again this am. It was in the HUD so I guess I was mistaken in saying that it was not in the HUD before. Same symbol. Same place, coming off my estate onto the main road. Stayed on for maybe 10 secs then went away. Not really any value to me. I knew it was raining anyway and I knew that the M1 would have lots of spray......

Can you remember what the warning looked like?
The one that I received did not look like any posted in #6 and stayed on for a good 20 minutes.

I did not get anything like that, more like storm clouds with rain drops, in a rectangular box.

Found it (or the symbol I was searching for anyway)…

It’s a Volvo Connected Safety warning - sent from other Volvo cars via the internet! The symbol we’ve been getting is “Alarm on slippery driving conditions” as seen here: https://www.volvocars.com/mt/support...nnected-safety

Wow!

It's a bit worrying if one needs a warning symbol to say it's raining
In the 2 years I've had my present car I've yet to get a warning via Connected Safety.
Why o why is it that every time the car goes in service (next Wednesday in my case) they tell you that it's had a software update but not what has been updated? A planned journey next Thursday will be one of discovery

This particular warning appears if another Volvo’s traction control has activated at this point recently.
The connected safety is warning other Volvos and their drivers that the road is slippery at this point, to allow you to not make the same mistake as the previous car which required the intervention of the traction / stability control.

Similarly, if a Volvo is in an incident or accident which results in Emergency hazard lights activating, connected vehicles are informed when approaching the area.

A useful function that is not adequately explained during handover on many occasions.
