Sorry been replacing the brakes, only to find it needs an exhaust! anyway

2006 model D5 185bhp. V70

There is a fuse box in the nearside boot, however ive had the panel off and there are no relays there.
Lights on and the dash reports bulb fail, turn the fog light on, switch lights as should as does the tell tail on the dash, bulb warning goes.
Should add car was hit while parked and taillight smashed. I have replaced with a genuine new Volvo one. New bulbs both sides.
Thanks

Just a thought... Your new light unit isn't a left hand drive unit is it?

I've never checked, but the light cluster on the nearside of the vehicle should have a gap/break in the metal circuit supplying power (or rather *not*) to the lamp. This is why on UK models only the offside lamp lights. You may now have two 'nearside' clusters fitted, if so you'll need to bridge the gap some the current can flow!

Not thought of that, i think there is a break in the circuit, i'll have a look tomorrow, it did come from a main dealer, but mistakes can be made,,

right morning, been out this morning ad had a look, yes there appears to be a break, however getting a meter out it seems a bit odd.

The fog lights from what i can see are run from a pink wire. turn the switch on it has 12+ volts, turn it off however this drops to 8-9 volts.

I am starting to think that there is a problem with the rear fuse holder, maybe after it was hit something shorted the wiring out!

I might just find another and swap to see.

umm?

These pics might help, they're from a crunched offside lower cluster my2007. The bulb is a dual 21/4W according to the stamping on the contacts as it's also a running light.

Update::: I've been having a play, And Think I have found the problems, yes two.
1, I was supplied by the main dealer a new lefthand drive light unit, I had to remake the connection.
2; The knock seems to have taken the rear electrical unit. Mine was the later one without relays.

I have replaced with a good known secondhand unit and now have working Fog lights.

Thanks to those that took the time to reply.
