V40 Petrol engines: long term reliability?
I've been looking at the second generation Volvo V40 as a replacement for my current car (MK2 Ford Focus). I'd normally go with a MK3 Focus, however I'd rather a petrol than a diesel, and the 1.0 ecoboost is a rather rough engine and the wet timing belt raises long term reliability concerns.
Therefore the V40 makes a compelling choice, and having driven a new D2 back in 2013 its certainly the kind of car I'd be happy with, however I'd like to ask if the petrol engines in the V40 are a good long term reliability bet I understand there's three basic options 1.6 Ford Ecoboost 4 cylinder 2.0/2.5 Volvo 5 cylinder 1.5/2.0 Volvo 4 cylinder Drive-E/VEP Are there any engine specific weaknesses I need to look out for or be aware of? |
