Quote:
I can understand a daily flucuation in quotes (interest/borrowing rates) but £2.87 as opposed to £34....... Seems to me, the ball is still in your court and worth speaking to some one higher up in the company. ps. What would really stiff it to them is loosing your business. It may not be better (but always has been for me) is this company I use :- http://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/ I've also found its better to ring direct for a quote rather than use the online service, but just thought I'd throw it into the mix

i too second the invocation of the obmudsman.
print the quote (4 copies) 1 for you 1 Special Delivery for them 1 Special Delivery for the obmudsman 1 for when One (no guesses who) claims they never recived it Special delivery = next day before 1300 , Tracked , recorded And signed for , with POD being avaliable next working day , which you should also get and print a couple of copies of, you get Who and When they signed for it,, i to have also had far better service and cover/cost from phoning a broker direct than "online comparsison sites".

Well the complaints dept called me today having again looked at the complaint and guess what yep in their opinion I am still liable for the extra £34.I told them I had copies of the quote which I can send to them and it clearly shows that protected NCB was ticked. They replied by saying (in the nicest way possible) that I could have gone in afterwards and ticked this box which in actual fact is not unfeasible but I 100% did not.I explained that if they checked my previous policy they would see that I had protected NCB and as I have max NCD why would I not protect it.I told them I wanted to take it to the ombudsman so they said we need to check again and come back to you. They did and yes you guessed it they still think I should pay.Having run the quote through again last night and got a figure of £300 which is only £3 more than the original quote I asked them to explain the extra sum of £34 to which I was given no answer except to say would you like to take this higher.I of course said yes.

wouldn't it be easier to just cancel the policy (cooling off period) and then take out a new one online at the cheaper price?

Glad you got it sorted out, but noticed their inferrence that you could have ticked the box after the event, that also works the other way round, they could have "un-ticked" the box.
