Thanks for the link to the arm.
I've ordered a couple of them. Has anyone found a source for the ball ends? I tried my local model shop this morning but everything they had was much too small. I seem to remember my old Amazon has ball jointed linkages and maybe too my old Series IIA Land Rover. |

A quick update.
I managed to fettle a repair to the swirl flap actuator. I changed the turbo boost sensor on the intercooler and the turbo boost solenoid, then cleaned out the EGR valve and feed pipes. A friend changed the timing belt and water pump, he noticed one of the idler pulleys was on the way out so we changed it too. He also noted there was play in the alternator clutch pulley, so we replaced it. The top engine mount was knackered so it was chamged as well. It feels like a new car now. It pulls like a train with no warning lights or messages on the dash or on the code reader. I've just returned from a 2500 mile round trip to France. It returned around 50mpg which was astonishing for such a big car. Despite a shaky start, it's a keeper. |

I think it must be in the region of £5-600.
In a perverse way I'd sooner buy a car this way rather than paying a premium for something claiming to be serviced to within an inch of its life. I'm fairly confident we have nailed all the issues. Should be good for a good few miles ahead. It will be used for transporting paintings, bicycles and camping gear. None of which warrants spending top dollar on a pristine car. |

Even with the few issues you have had and repaired you are still way under the price of v70 with that engine from any trader. Done well I think

50mpg sounds like a miracle,
unless that's not an average MPG ...

These engines and gearboxes if properly serviced should be good for moon and back mileages. The body is galvanised, the interior is really durable, there's not a lot more you could ask of a car. My brother recently bought an E Class Mercedes for twice what I paid for my V70. It's a V6 seven speed auto. I'm curious to see how his running costs compare. His first service and MOT cost roughly the same as I have invested in my V70. |
