Default no brake lights

my friend owns a 05 plate s60 d-5 and hes car has failed mot dues to no back brake lights also he has no cruise control can anyone help we looked at the fuses and seem all ok please help

The first thing to check is the Brake light switch. This is not connected directly yo the lights it is connected to the CEM and a canbus signal is sent to the REM and the lights turned on. Have you checked the bulbs although I assume the high level brake light is also not operating. Regards Peter

yes checked fuses and bulbs hes taken it to a garage and they say its the module near the pedals but been told and read that the cruise control switch may be causing this problem
