If you can, let me know...

I've wanted bull bars on Tor for years.
Just as a warning though, when discussing this topic, it does tend to generate a debate.
There's obviously opposition to fitting something which is proven to increase injury in a vehicle-person collision.

But that aside, if you decide to go down that route, the law is relitively strict.
You can't fit a bar which was made after a certain date (I can't remember which, and actually just very recently deleted the bookmark I had to the page with all the info on, shouldn't be too hard to find though), I think around 2000.
So, if you are unable to find an original Volvo 240 bar, you'd have to find a bar from another vehicle which will fit, as you aren't allowed to have something new made. This may also mean that you can't adapt an existing bar.

You CAN still have 'soft' bars fitted. The type that come on the front of new 4x4s. But these are most often an inverted 'v' shape and don't have the same visual impact.

I think bars were only ever put onto the 240 Polar (Italian version), which looks similar to the Torslanda. But some aftermarket ones were made for the Australian market.
Unfortunately, finding an original may prove to be impossible.

Which leaves attaching something not orignally designed for the 240. There are probably a load of close matches, if anyone has any further info, I'd love to hear it.

You could always make one... like this guy...

Unfortunately, he's not a brilliant welder.

Good luck in your search. If you find anything, please let me know.

BTW, when I was looking through the Italian ebay, I came across this...

May be of interest to some.
I'd get it myself, I love these add-ons. But I've got a few other jobs that are important to get done before I address any cosmetic issues.

As you can see from the above links that photo (Dutch I think) and various chat about the Polar bull bars has taken place in the past. I'd love some but I bet they're not cheap......looks like it would make changing your running lights a real pain as well.

I had considered those A bars that bolt onto the bumper of some 4x4s and vans. However, the problem with anything on the bumper is that it is designed to move inwards when it hits something. If there is metal work attached it will move also, and total the front panels rather than just sliding underneath as designed. I had this happen with some spots that were attached to the bumper. I hit a bollard and the bumper slid back and the spots trashed the grille!

The first thing that came to my mind after seeing that top image was one of these:

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...d=190964717250

Got to be easier to modify one of these than find something that is unobtainable!
From Wiki, Range Rover width: 70" - 1778mm
Volvo 240 width: 67.7" - 1720mm

Could you legally fit one of these? I suppose if it was made prior to the ban...
But then, doesn't it have to be specific to the vehicle?

there's a Defender Landrover thing around the corner from where I live.
I parked close last night, the sizes don't look too far off, so it would be a fairly easy adaptation.
Does anyone know the legality though?
