I agree, also conveniently a 10L drum of fluid will do three dump and fills with around 1L spare. I've done three on mine and left it there.

Just came across your thread..

I bought one of these a year ago (a 20l barrel of from Mannol) and did a transmission dump and over the last couple of weeks I've done two dumps a week apart and plan on one more.

Transmission is smooth as silk @ 201K.

Anyway just replaced the same amount as what came out and ordered the correct tool.

Picture doesn’t really show the colour difference that well, but it is obvious in real life and the old stuff smells as well.

Suspect it’s the original 170,000 mile oil. If so it’s a miracle the box is still smooth, which I want to keep that way.

Hope to change another 3ish litres later in the week.

I am using one of these and get 3.5 liters every time..

On a car with 170k, it wouldn't be uncommon for the need to use a lot of trans fluid before you start noticing the colour it should be (Particularly if there's no record of it being changed before by the previous owner).

True...

I’ve now done 2 sump dumps, need to get the 3rd and last of the initial batch done anytime. Was leaving it until I’d covered a reasonable distance in the car, which has been hard work as we’ve been stuck with Covid lockdowns and isolation!

Still got intermittent issues with the drivers door catch, it seems a bit ‘poke and hope’ to get the alignment of the striker right.

I hadn't realised that it's possible to use a vacuum pump to remove fluid from an automatic gearbox. I shall do the same next time. Thanks for the tip!

Engine oil change this weekend, once I’ve got the door sorted. Still working out what gearbox oil to use as it seems to be on a change over and 3 different types have been mentioned. However i thing a 20l rub of 3309 may turn up next week if I can’t work it out and I’ll just flush the box.
Hi reggit, do you have a link for the replacement door lock motor? Thanks

Hi, bought it off eBay however I’ve had a look and can’t see any listed at the moment.

I think it’s this one, but check against yours. https://www.wish.com/product/5d1e488..._BwE&share=web

Default Door misalignment

The drivers door has always been hard to close since I bought the car and looks out of alignment. Thought let’s make a start in 2021 of addressing that issue. YouTube videos checked - nice easy job.

Yeah right! Made it worse then it started raining. Job postponed until a dry day. Did notice corrosion on the bottom hinge pin. I’m guessing that needs to come off and be repaired or replaced for the door to close properly.

Open the window and put your arm though then use your shoulder and lift the door up to get it in line. Works every time when I’ve had to do it and doesn’t require undoing anything. Just from age they get out of alignment slightly, usually on cars with big heavy doors like 3 door cars.
