Should be 3 wires into the connector, Pink, Black and Brown. The Black and Brown wires are the two you're interested in. With the engine hot, set the multimeter on to the 20V dc range (roughly 10 o'clock position) and put the black probe (-ve) into the back of the connector where the Black wire is, put the red (+ve) probe into the Brown and start the car. Assuming you've done it correctly, you should have a voltage between 0-1V showing so switch it one position anti-clockwise onto the 2V range. The voltage should be in the region of 0.445V dropping to 0V and rising to nearly 1V on a cycle. If it is steady, note the value as that is a good clue and let me know - chances are if it's steady it will be 0V or very close to it. As a double check you've got a good reading, change back to the 20V range and move the red +ve probe from the brown to the pink - it should read battery voltage which as the engine is running, should be ~14.0-14.4V.

I did not manage to locate it on the underside I'm afraid. My Haynes manual also does not say much about it (can't locate it on the index) Do I have to go underneath the car as I struggle to locate anything there, especially that I am so ignorant? sorry thank you |

I located the exhaust manifold, found the turbo hose, followed it to the downpipe and followed the downpipe further but still can't figure out which one is the lambda sensor. Is there any chance that you have a picture of it? thank you for your time |

No cat to worry about either thankfully! Horrible, poisonous, power-sapping devices! Did you manage to get any readings from your Lambda sensor?
