Default How to convert p1800e 3 port pump to 2 port pump supply

Hi all,
I think I am going to have to replace the 49 year old 3 port Fuel pump in my P1800E to a 2 port system. This opens up a big choice of replacement pumps out there.

So if I put a simple FP with the standard tinny and outie (₩resume this is a 2 port pump) Can I just disposed of the 3 port pump and simple direct the return from the injection system, straight into the fuel tank? Is this going to cause any issues?

I have included a pic of the current system...I think!

If you chose a fuel pump with the correct pressure, it's really low at d-jetropical, and right volume it's the way to do it right.
The data's maybe not correct in my head, andie my books are far away.
You will find the data's inside the www
Maybe someone here will chim in.

The choice about a correct fuel pump at the market isn't really big

Good luck, Kay

Hi.
Here's a simple solution. Fit a 240 electric fuel pump. I have fitted mine 15 years ago. Still works perfectly.

Hi,

Brookhouse Volvo have a suitable pump which may require modification to the return system, part number 460900 £167.40.

Thank you all,
I have a general idea of pressure and output etc.

Kassie - that's a 2 port pump, again. The concern is how to modify the F.I system to run run a 2 port pump instead of the original 3 port?

Cassel- same issue for a more expensive fuel pump.

If we realised how to modify the flow path. Our lives would be made much less complex as the choice of 2 port pumps a multiple. Ce should be able to use a pump running about 100psi - it all depends of the regulator. There are also some regulators that have a permanent Fuel Pressure gauge attached - effective but not age specific.

Keep the ideas coming people!
Regards

You will need to get the fuel rail and regulator that mounts onto the fuel rail between the injectors which has 3 ports in place of the 2 port type., Ron Kwas has an excellent site for the volvos, the picture below shows the setup. His website is here: http://sw-em.com/bosch_d-jetronic_injection.htm
