I honestly wouldn't bother.
The Volvo system is quite poor compared with many others like TomTom, or Wave etc.
I've had the Volvo crapnav in both of my Mk1 XC90s and it's quite basic in comparison.

Nothing wrong with the old MK1 satnav - it is certainly better than the BMW satnav of the same vintage - remember, these cars are 10+ years old so expecting a 2020 piece of tech in a 2008 car is perhaps a bit unfeasible.

I have found my very reliable - they are easy to use once you work out the old clunky way of doing things. And updated maps to 2019.

I meant to add though, fitting one in a car which wasn't specced I think is not straightforward and will need programming via a dealer. Something to do with the MOST system I think, but I am sure a boffin will come along and explain.

The satnav was designed to be retrofitted, and retrofit PDF instructions exist on the 'net

After fitting, the car will need to be programmed by the dealer so that the car knows the nav is fitted and adapts it's internal communications accordingly.

No. You need access to Volvo servers it’s a subscription to load the software. VIDA will tell you the part number to load the software and there are a number of only sites that have the standard prices for all parts loaded.

Do some through research before you decide to retrofit.

Selling dealer supplied it with the car when I bought it September 2019- will check it when next in the car. I think it was an ebay job.
